Bring Back Chuck!

Just need to throw my support in for bringing back this awesome show and surprised I forgot to post here before in hopes it gets thrown in somewhere, somehow. I’m sure NBC has already finalized the schedule that is being released on Monday, but either way I want to say I’ve written in, been buying from Subway a lot more (both for health and Chuck reasons) and following the drama over it being renewed a few steps below my obsession with following the Devils. This is one of two shows I actually seek to watch on the main TV channels and I’d probably stop watching Heroes out of anger if NBC doesn’t renew.

How can you not love a show that mixes action and comedy in such a great way with the perfect cast of characters? Admittedly, I almost gave up on the show after the first 2-3 episodes, and then all of a sudden everything changed and the show was amazingly good. It doesn’t insult my intelligence, it has an original concept behind it, and it isn’t a cop/medical/law drama or reality TV. Similar shows on other networks either annoy me or I can’t get into them. I probably need to watch Lost from the beginning, because I just don’t like it at the moment, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles sucked and Dollhouse was even worse.

A quick note on Dollhouse: I don’t know where the hell all these Joss Whedon fan people are from, but this guy produces crap. I never got into Buffy, Angel looked and was RETARDED for the few episodes I caught, I didn’t bother with Firefly, and now Dollhouse is yet another “I want to explore deep premises but with a completely crappy plot.” Eliza Dushku is the only saving grace for that show and it could have been good, but when you have writing like:

Main Dollhouse Chick who runs everything: Are you painting?
Eliza Dushku (painting like a 2nd grader): Its not finished.
Main Dollhouse Chick who runs everything: Do you want it to be finished?
Eliza Dushku: Its not finished.

Wow. How fucking deep and insightful. Suck a cock, Joss Whedon. There, I said it.

Anyway, the only other shows on TV that are comedy/drama of some kind that I enjoy are House, Monk (not so much but it is ok and comes on before…), and especially Psych. From there it is random shows on Food Network (rarely), HGTV (much more often now that I am thinking about redecorating my house a bit), Bravo (Top Chef), sports, or something along these lines with the rare science/history show thrown in for good measure.

Ok, back on topic: Chuck needs to be renewed. We live in a world with terrible reality TV where millions of braindead Americans just can’t wait to see which fatty lost the most or which K-list celebrity is the best dancer. Where we need constant in-your-face shocking dramas that show you things that are horribly graphic and are not suitable to be on prime time TV (this is one case where I actually support the “save our children” argument because its just too accessible.) My mother tried to reason with me that it was ok for my sister (who is aged 10) to watch CSI because she’ll “learn things,” even though at least half of CSI is made up (as is half of House, too…), and even then a 10 year old cannot understand these concepts. So really its a confusing show that has a lot of graphic 3D renderings and gore and blood from the crime scenes to her.

Chuck is actually refreshing and something anyone can watch no matter how old or young (minus the super young, since there are fight scenes and people getting shot rarely). From a geek perspective, its pretty cool too, but even then you don’t have to be a geek to understand it. And the fan support has been so huge that I can’t imagine how they could say no at this point. But even then, I think its important to praise things you like just as much as it is to critique that which you do not, so here is yet another fan chipping in with more support for Chuck.

Some things

Sitting here taking a small break from work and figured I’d update this blog.

Devils news – Playing better recently, long road trip. Signed Shanahan – mixed feelings on this one. We’re halfway through January, so only about a month or so until Brodeur returns.

Work news – Still loving working out of town. Days Inn of Marshall, TX is a shithole though. It is kind of nice that they converted 4 rooms below my room into a bar, so I don’t have to worry about driving, just a flight of stairs if I get hammered. It would be nice if you didn’t have to go 45 mins-1 hour from the town I work in away before finding apartments to rent though. Well, at least apartments that I’d consider staying in. For that matter, a decent restaurant would be nice too.

Car news – Insurance company decides to fuck me and I am responsible for all the remaining issues with my car. Fuck Bill Fogle Collision Centers, fuck Allstate (who even said “Yeah the guys at Bill Fogle don’t like you,” maybe because I said they are all dickheads in my other post?), and fuck Farmers for believing Bill Fogle and not letting my car get taken to another shop for another opinion. The shop flat out said I lied about my car being pushed into another car in front of me when I have photos of the accident, the person in front of me’s rear (including license plate) and their insurance card.

Facebook – Getting way too addicted to it. 10x better than MySpace ever was, since you don’t have to worry about the dipshit putting white text on a white background with a million sparkles all over their page so they can be “kewl.” Found lots of high school friends which is pretty cool.

Barack Obama – Less than a week away… that’s going to be a pretty interesting night.

CES 2009 – From what I saw… a total bust. OLED is cool and all, but how it is used is more important. James Bond Watch Phone by LG and Motorola Aura are both terrible in concept and practicality. I didn’t see anything that I really thought was mind-blowing, and only a few things like the tiny Sony Vaio caught my eye as something I might want at some point, just for the ease of use going around with that compared to a 17″ laptop. Then again, I have an iPhone, so I don’t really need it.

Heroes and Chuck – Really need to be coming back on TV before February, but at least psych and Monk are back.
