Ike is about to beat the shit out of me

(The hurricane, not the Turner)

So Hurricane Ike is headed straight for Houston. I have to say this is kind of freaky since I’ve never been in a real hurricane before. The last one (Rita) that ‘threatened’ Houston was some strong wind, 15 minutes of power loss, and rain for about an hour. We have normal thunderstorms that did more.

On the other hand, this looks absolutely vicious.

We’ve decided to stick it out. It looks like we will get up to 100MPH winds in my area, 5-10″ of rain, etc. Luckily we are far enough in that it shouldn’t be horrible, but we may be without power for awhile or flooded in even. We have enough food to feed the Canadian army for 2 weeks – 2 people, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.

The pets are not taking this well and are freaking out a bit even though we’ve closed the doggie door and locked them inside.

Anyway, just finished cooking some steak, time to eat some good food before we dive into all the canned, preservative-packed stuff :)
